I am a mom of three wonderful boys. They each have their own way of learning and thriving in the world around them. Homeschooling seemed like the best option for us when my oldest was ready for kindergarten. Since I was homeschooled as a kid and even attended some community college, I thought this would be a piece of cake! I was wrong; it’s the hardest thing I have ever done, but there is cake! everything is always better with cake.

My homeschool philosophy and outlook has changed since I started this adventure. I didn’t realize that learning right along side my children could be so much fun! Some days it feels like I am living the magical learning experience I wish I had. Other days getting everyone to sit down and just listen for 10 minutes feels like I am herding cats at a disco rave!

It’s taken a lot for me to realize that I am not going to screw up my kids by not being perfect. My kids do not need a perfect curriculum or a spotless house. They need me to be happy and present, and just as ready to have fun and learn as they are. Some days school may not happen because I need to binge watch Doctor Who while the kids do their own thing for the day.

I’m not an expert in anything. I like to listen to a lot of podcasts while working at my day job. Most of these are about parenting, education, and sensory issues. Then I take all that and jump down a few rabbit holes, see what works for us and what doesn’t. This blog is a collection of what has worked, and some things that didn’t go so well. So make some tea, grab a cookie, and let’s get started!
